Discover Dogs this year was a challenge for us especially as a year's planning for the event had to be changed ten days prior to the show due to the Kennel Club reducing our stand from a double to a single, because we are no longer considered a top ten breed!
Lots of dogs and events had to be cancelled for the stand but still we achieved a stand which truly represented the breed and supplied all the correct health information to prospective owners.
There were the odd questions which called some hilarity "How do I stop my Border Collie chasing squirrels" but the best was "How do I stop a Border Collie chasing Wild Boar because my last dog was killed by one!"
We answered over 800 enquiries over the two days of the show and had an average of 12 visitors per minute. The dogs were magnificent over the two days and were the stars of the show as always. Bodger, Mist, Pepsi, Jaimie and Louis were all brilliant and completely shattered come Sunday evening. My thanks must also go to Mark Lambden, Sue Ferber and Mel who were there for both days with good supporting roles from Cathy and Lucy Green and their dog and Julie Waterman and Mary Caldicott and their dogs. We couldn’t have coped without them.
We had lots people offering support and requesting kits for the testing of idiopathic epilepsy and these details have now been passed on to the Animal Health Trust.
We look forward to next year with the planning taking into account both a double and single stand!
